Ruud and Gabby
Netherlands to United States of America (Colorado)
When I arrived in turkey it felt a bit a chaotic at the airport. I would bring a tip-some turkish lira (around 250 for a taxi) to the center of Istanbul. My stay in turkey was very pleasant. It is very nice to be there without a lot of tourists, beside that, it’s a very safe city. I was very impressed by the architecture of the city and the activities they offer. The only thing I had to get use to is wearing a face mask all the the time since this isn’t custom yet in the Netherlands. At Istanbul’s airport, my taxi was stopped at a security check and they checked my luggage. They just asked basic questions like how long I stayed in Istanbul before I left for my flight to US. I flew to Chicago first and was taken into a separate room for questioning and security pat down. They asked questions on where I stayed before arriving, how long, if I planned on moving to US or getting married, and if I had visited the US before and how long, It was quick and didn’t take that long and was able to catch my flight to Denver. The whole trip had no big complications and I am so happy to be reunited. If you are thinking about going through this route, I would recommend!
