My husband and I (childhood sweethearts) got married in December of 2019. I left for the U.K. to start our emigration process in January 2020 and then the pandemic hit. I was due to go home to South Africa in June but the my flights got cancelled 3 times. I eventually got back to my husband in November and we were happier than ever as my father in law lasted away when I arrived and I was able to be there to support my husband in such a difficult time. I got stuck in South Africa till February after many cancelled flights. I had to hotel quarantine when I got here and we had to use our savings that we had set aside for our wedding which will happen if all goes well in December this year. My husband has finally received his VISA after months of delays and tons of financial strain. He is due to fly in one weeks time and will have to quarantine when he arrives… another massive financial blow. At the end of the day though money is just money and we are elated to be reunited once again.
