Georges and Sarah
France to United States of America (New York)
November 1, 2020
After several months separated, I finally got to see my girlfriend in the US! It took us several months to figure out how and when when we could reunite. In October, my ESTA finally got approved and I decided to leave France on the first of November. I had to stop for 14 days outside of the Schengen area, so I decided to stay in Beirut, Lebanon. On the fifteenth day, I took the plane to go to the US, with a layover in Istanbul, Turkey. There, I was asked for a Covid-test.
During the flight, I was given a US covid related form to fill and to hand upon landing in New York. I had to fill-in information related to my stay and on how I could be contacted during my stay.
I landed at JFK airport in New York on the 16th of November. Upon arrival in JFK, a customs officer asked me several questions in relation to my stay: the reason why I was coming to the US? For how long have I been with my girlfriend? The address I am staying at and the date of my departure. Always remember that for non European passports, the date of expiry of the passport should not be less than 6 months. The customs officer was easy going and did not ask to see my covid test, he only asked me if I had done one or not. After finishing with customs and after I picked up my luggage, a police officer asked me to hand in the COVID form that I filled on the plane.
I had to quarantine for three days and take a Covid test on the fourth day, as per the new NYC rules. But at least I am with my girlfriend now and I'm over the moon :)
